Web 2.0 Tools




When we began reviewing the possible Web 2.0 tools to make our wiki pages on, I got nervous when my group was given Glogster, a tool in which I have had no past experiences with. While I've only had minor experiences with the other tools, I at least knew what they were and basically how to use them. As I began to delve into the world of Glogster and Glog-making, I quickly found that it would not be as difficult to learn as expected. Looking at some of the examples of Glogs that were posted on Glogster's main site showed how personalized and creative you could be to present information. My first experience using Glogster was with my group during class where we had a little trouble positioning images, text, and video clips. Initially we had trouble picking specific items to drag and drop, however we later dismissed this issue to be a result of an uncalibrated StarBoard. As soon as we began making the Glog, things went smoothly. We quickly learned how to add new text, images, videos, and other embedded objects with relatively little hassle. From my short experience with Glogster, I can say for sure that the tool could easily be integrated into classrooms of all ages. After working with the program, I realized how easily Glogs could replace a teacher's standard PowerPoint presentation, or even a teacher's means of assessment. Having students make Glogs certainly seems like it would be a fun alternative to traditional assessments, allowing students to display the information they learned in an individualized, creative, unique way involving a number of different types of media.
